Qualfon is a leading global business process outsourcing (BPO) and call center service provider from Monterrey, NL, Mexico. The company provides cybersecurity, roadside assistance, and telecommunications clients with help desk and tech support, along with other services. Over the years, the company has continued to grow in Harlingen.
How did the HEDC work with Qualfon to locate the company in Harlingen: What incentives were provided or initiatives made to the company? -- This is a very important aspect to mention to show what the EDC is doing to bring in and retain businesses.
In November of 2019, Qualfon fulfilled its obligations to the Harlingen EDC and was awarded a $200,000 job creation grant after recently extending its lease for an additional five years on the 40,000 square-foot office building that it occupies.
The company has approximately 450 employees with an estimated annual contribution of more than $8 million in wages into the local economy. The multiplier effect of its employees is approximately 4 to 1, helping to maintain or create an additional 1,800 indirect jobs in the area, a continued growth that has greatly benefited Harlingen and all of South Texas.
“Harlingen is the ideal location for our newest world-class facility because of its economic strengths, its 335,000 residents in the immediate area, and its high-caliber workforce,” said Mike Marrow, Qualfon CEO. “The Harlingen area offers a large student population (more than 30,000 students) and a high percentage of bilinguals, enabling Qualfon to provide services in Spanish as well as English.”
