HELP for Small Business Helps Keep Things Blooming at Bloomer’s

HARLINGEN, TEXAS (June 1, 2020) – Bloomer’s Flowers & Gifts has been a popular floral shop in Harlingen for more than 30 years.

The shop is known for more than just its beautiful flower arrangements. The store features table displays with an array of gift ideas, jewelry, purses, and other unique items.

But the store has faced economic challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and Pam Fuller’s store needed help. Pam applied for the Harlingen EDC HELP for Small Business program once it was available and was recently notified that her loan application was approved.

“As a locally-owned, small business, this loan means so much not just to Bloomer’s Flower & Gifts, but to the community,” Lisa Marie Human, store manager, said.

Lisa Marie added that the loan will provide relief to the shop. The loan will be used towards utilities and to pay employees during such “uncharted times.”

“We have continued to find innovative ways to provide our customers the service they have grown to expect from us, in a safe environment,” Lisa Marie added.

The store has re-opened to the public at limited capacity, allowing no more than five customers at a time and everyone must wear a face covering. Adjustments have been made for the safety of staff and customers and currently, the store offers curbside service, contactless delivery, and in-store precaution allowing them to resume business.

“This much-appreciated loan will help us continue to be a unique flower and gift destination for our fellow residents of Harlingen and the Lower Valley,” Lisa Marie said.
