Harlingen is a city with an estimated population of 74,950, with a strong reputation as a trade and transportation center, home to an international airport, a port, an international bridge, a state technical college and a large medical services community.

Harlingen is also the second largest city in Cameron County. The city covers more than 34 square miles (88 km2) and has an elevation of 38 feet (11.6m) above sea level.
