  • Bass Pro Shops serves as Anchor to Cameron Crossing

    Bass Pro Outdoor World opened in Harlingen in November of 2011. The 150,000 square foot store anchors a 50-acre commercial development that now includes a Longhorn Restaurant, a Cracker Barrel restaurant, an AT&T store, and a Residence Inn by Marriott hotel. It is located on the intersection of I-2 and I-69East (former Expressway 83 and 77) in Harlingen. It is the 57th Bass Pro Outdoor World store in the U.S.

  • Pentair Valves & Controls LP

    Pentair Valves & Controls LP, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Pentair International, completed a 30,000 sf expansion on their present facility of 80,000 sf with an investment of $5.7 million. In addition to the expansion of the Harlingen facility, Pentair Valves & Controls LP will add two lines to the Anderson/Greenwood and Century Valves – Penberthy and Yarway.

  • AOC Completes Corporate Headquarters

    A new $2.2 million corporate headquarters for AOC Welding Supply has been completed in Harlingen. The firm supplies acetylene, oxygen and welding supplies throughout Texas. AOC employs 100 people in Harlingen.

  • Advanced Call Center Technologies

    ACCT continues to be one of Harlingen's primary private employers. The company and the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation worked together to solve parking issues at the company’s facilities along Morgan Boulevard, which resulted in the creation of over 900 jobs.

  • ITD Precision Completes Expansion

    ITD Precision, a Houston-based manufacturer of metal stampings for the automotive industry, recently completed a $2.2 million expansion that added 60 new jobs. ITD added 20,000 square feet and a new heat treating operation to its building.

  • Tire Recycling & Processing, LLC, (TRP) Announces New Plans

    Tire Recycling & Processing, LLC, (TRP) opened a center to process used tires into granules and carbon black in Harlingen. The company purchased a 42,777 square foot facility in the Harlingen Industrial Park and also installed new equipment valued at $3.8 million. The operation has created over 30 new jobs. “Weconsidered sites from across the Rio Grande Valley, but Harlingen’scentral location makes it the perfect site for receiving raw material andshipping the finished product to clients across the US and around theworld,” said Marta Martinez, Vice President of TRP.

  • UnitedHealth Group

    UnitedHealth Group, a Fortune 25 company, opened a 55,000 square foot insurance claims processing center which has created over 700 jobs and over $6 million in investment. UnitedHealth Group has partnered with Texas State Technical College and Workforce Solutions Cameron to train employees.

  • University Articulation and Career Center

    The two-story, 38,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art instructional facility located at Texas State Technical College provides an opportunity for public and private four-year universities to offer bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in Harlingen. The UACC will be the first silver certified Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design building specifically designed for education purposes in South Texas. The LEED designation relates to the conservation of electricity and water that leads to lower maintenance costs.

  • Aloe Laboratories

    Aloe Laboratories, Inc., a vertically integrated aloe vera farming and processing company, makes their home in the Harlingen Industrial Park. With an investment in excess of $500,000, the company recently expanded their facility by 20,000 square feet and created additional full time positions. Aloe Laboratories, Inc. serves a global market and has seen a steady increase in overall sales.

  • VA Health Center

    In December 2007, the 34,000-square-foot Veterans Administration Health Center opened at the Harlingen branch of the University of Texas – San Antonio’s Regional Academic Health Center. Plans are under way to expand the VA Health Center by another 154,000 square feet in the near future, further improving health care for veterans in the Rio Grande Valley.

  • Harlingen Ambulatory Surgery Center

    The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ceremonially opened a three-story, 120,000 square-foot, $40 million Harlingen Ambulatory Surgery and Specialty Outpatient Center. The center serves as a vital educational site for UT Health Science Center medical residents and students based at the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC) in Harlingen. It is located on the Health Science Center’s Harlingen campus, immediately behind the RAHC Medical Education Division. It opened in January 2011.

    A 94-bed psychiatric hospital under management by Strategic Behavioral Health LLC has begun construction in Harlingen, city officials announced this past summer. Mayor Chris Boswell told a news conference at City Hall that capital expenditures for addition of the new hospital are estimated at more than $10 million. Strategic Behavioral Health LLC will strengthen Harlingen’s prominent position in the health-care industry which includes a cluster of nationally recognized facilities and specialists. The new psychiatric hospital planned near the intersection of Hale Avenue and Victoria Lane will make mental health-care more easily accessible to residents in Cameron, Willacy and Hidalgo counties. “Our health industry cluster in Harlingen will be a valuable resource for the medical school that will open with the new University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley,” Boswell said. “High paying jobs for professionals is one aspect of the new hospital that makes this a great project to advance our community’s economic base.” "Strategic Behavioral Health will expand the employment base and private investment in Harlingen", said Raudel Garza, Chief Executive Officer of the Harlingen Economic Development. Projected employment within three years for Strategic Behavioral Health in Harlingen is 225 employees with salaries ranging from $10 per hour for basic jobs to more than $60,000 annually for registered nurses, managers and directors.

  • Qualfon

    The City of Harlingen and the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation are proud to welcome Qualfon, a leading global business process outsourcing (BPO) and call center service provider from Monterrey, NL, Mexico, to Harlingen. Qualfon is expected to hire 200 workers during the first year of operation, with at least 400 employees before the end of their third year. The 600-seat contact center will occupy a two-story building located just off N. Ed Carey Drive and will employ up to 1,000 people when at capacity. Qualfon expects to offer a variety of job opportunities in the areas of customer care, tech support, sales, customer retention programs, as well as back-office services. “Harlingen is the ideal location for our newest world-class facility because of its economic strengths, its 335,000 residents in the immediate area, and its high-caliber workforce,” said Mike Marrow, Qualfon CEO. “The Harlingen area offers a large student population (more than 30,000 students) and a high percentage of bilinguals, enabling Qualfon to provide services in Spanish as well as English.”
