Valle Vista Mall
A Simon-owned, enclosed mall with a variety of national retail stores along with a food court where you can take a break for a quick meal in between your next shopping destination.
Downtown Harlingen
Along Jackson St. and Van Buren, west of 4th St. are numerous unique shops, boutiques, flower shops and more. All are located in the heart of Harlingen's historic downtown area.
South 77 Sunshine Strip
Follow 77 Sunshine Strip Southeast of Tyler and you'll find wonderful stores with anything and everything from furniture, gifts, accessories and more.
North 77 Sunshine Strip
Take 77 Sunshine Strip Northwest of Harrison and you'll find another set of stores that offer great items at discount prices, accessories, toys and lots more.

Nearby Shopping
Located in nearby Mercedes, TX, right off Expressway 83 (westbound), are the Rio Grande Valley Premium Outlets. The 140-outlet mall continues to grow and has different types of stores to meet every shoppers liking. Visit their website for a complete list of stores.
About 25 minutes eastbound on Expressway 83 is Sunrise Mall in Brownsville, TX. The regional mall has major stores such as Bealls, Dillard's, Sears, JC Penny and much more. A Cinemark theatre is also located inside the mall near the food court. The shopping center is surrounded with other specialty stores and shopping plazas.
Heading westbound on Expressway 83 is nearby McAllen where you can find La Plaza Mall. The mall is also home to numerous major retail stores, along with smaller specialty stores. The area is also surrounded with numerous shopping plazas, coffee shops and great places to eat.

Across the Border - Shopping in Mexico
The Rio Grande Valley hugs the Mexican border - allowing Harlingen residents and the rest of South Texas easy access to Mexico. Just a short drive away, the other side of the border has numerous Mexican restaurants with truly authentic Mexican dishes. Or you can simply walk the streets and shop at a variety of outdoor shopping stands and more. Cool down during a hot afternoon with a mixed drink or a Mexican beer.
International Crossings
Harlingen and Rio Grande Valley natives have the convenience of entering Mexico through three different International Crossings. The Progreso/Nuevo Progreso International Bridge, Brownsville-Matamoros Bridge and the Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge allow easy access into Mexico for hours of shopping and more.
Nuevo Progreso
Nuevo Progreso is perhaps the closest International Crossing from Harlingen. The town has many excellent restaurants all in the midst of numerous outdoor shopping carts filled with arts and crafts, Mexican candy, food and snacks and much more. And with a bar on almost every corner, you can enjoy domestic and imported beers, or a tasty mixed drink.
Matamoros
This Mexican city near downtown Brownsville has great shopping areas where you can find bargains on almost anything. From hand-crafted items, to leather goods, gold and jewelry and more, Matamoros has it all. The area is also always expanding with a variety of restaurants and bars. A visit to Matamoros is a must for any Valley resident or tourist.
Reynosa
Slightly further away from Harlingen is Reynosa, which is McAllen's sister city on the other side of the border. It's a modern-day metropolis of 750,000 and a great place to spend a few hours bargain hunting at one of the many local stores, eating great, authentic Mexican dishes or enjoying a drink or two.
