Harlingen Well Represented at the Bi-National Convention in Altamira, Tamaulipas
The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) joined other local organizations at the Bi-National Convention of Chambers of Commerce from the State of Tamaulipas, Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley, USA. Other organizations in attendance were the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce, Harlingen Conventions and Visitor’s Bureau, Valley International Airport, Marine Military Academy, Rio Grande Valley Premium Outlets, City of Port Isabel and City of Mercedes.
The convention allowed an opportunity to meet and network with representatives from the Chambers of Commerce from Tampico to Nuevo Laredo and all major cities in between. Topics discussed were the Port of Altamira and its impact on the region, cross border relations and border security.
The Harlingen contingent of the convention arrived a day early to host the “Conozca Harlingen” Trade Show. The Trade Show allowed for businesses and citizens from the Tri City area of Altamira, Tampico and Madero to “get to know” Harlingen. Several businesses showed interest in starting operations in the United States and many citizens were interested in purchasing a second home or going shopping in Harlingen.
The next Bi-National convention will be hosted by the Mercedes EDC. It will be held on March 13-14 during the Rio Grande ValleyLivestock Show and Rodeo.
